Superman Has His Kryptonite, What Is Yours?

Ever since I was a kid, I have loved to read comic books.

One of the first I picked up when I was about 6 years old, was the fictional superhero “Superman”.

Superman was a wonderful model for a child, always doing what was right and using his power to do good things and fight against evil.

While he was an all-powerful being, he had one weakness, “Kryptonite”. “Kryptonite” was the radioactive material that existed after the explosion of Superman birth location, the planet Krypton.

Whenever Superman was exposed to “Kryptonite” he would become weak and lose his powers.

I always felt that the editors of the comic book wanted to let children know that even the most powerful beings can have flaws or vulnerabilities that can affect them in a negative way.

My personal “Kryptonite” is bread. I love bread, especially the locally-made Italian bread created each day in the Formica Bakery in Atlantic City, NJ. Getting a hot loaf of bread fresh from the oven, putting some butter on it or making a sandwich can be heaven on earth. Garlic bread is to kill for.

But I can’t eat it anymore, without gaining weight and maintaining my weight at its current status is more important to me than anything.

This is a personal thing, I have many friends that can eat it every day and not gain an ounce. Rye bread, whole wheat bread are healthy products if you can handle them.

Unfortunately, I can’t, so I avoid them most of the time.

So, for you, it is important to identify your “Kryptonite” and try to avoid it.

It could be cookies, deli meats, alcohol, snacks or something as simple as salad dressing.

My suggestion is to define your “Kryptonite” and avoid it whenever possible.

If Superman and I can do it, you can too.
